GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
All Powers students are required to take six classes. One credit is given for each semester class. In order to graduate from Powers a student must have:

completed four years of high school

taken and passed 46 credits

completed all of the required classes
-
been in attendance at Powers Catholic during the last semester of his/her senior year
-
completed the Christian service requirement.
Required Classes for Graduation
Theology 4 years (one credit for each semester in attendance)
English 4 years
Social Studies
World History or
World Geography 1 year
American History 1 year
Government 1 semester
Elective 1 semester
*Economics is strongly recommended for Juniors taking the Michigan Merit Exam.
Mathematics 4 years
Science (Laboratory Science) 3 years
Physical Education and Health 1 year
(2 years of band or orchestra will replace this requirement)
These are the minimum requirements for graduation from Powers Catholic. All students are recommended to take academic classes beyond these minimum requirements. (There are several exceptions to these requirements for transfer students and SkillCenter students.)
Christian Service Requirement
Every student will be required to perform five hours of service for each semester in attendance. This service is to be done outside of regular school hours. It is to be voluntary, without pay, and with no classroom grade or mark given. A broad range of service activities will be acceptable. No diploma will be granted until a student completes the required service hours.
