2. Apply for Admission

All incoming freshmen students are asked to fill out an Application for 9th Grade Admission.  The first application deadline for incoming 9th graders is January 1st.  9th grade acceptance packets will start being sent out towards the end of January.   Applications will still be accepted after this deadline in a rolling admissions process.  There is a $100, non-refundable, registration fee that must accompany the application.  Checks should be made out to Powers Catholic High School.

  • Download your Application for 9th Grade Admission here.

Transfer Student Applications will be accepted and reviewed at any time thoughout the year.  Ideally, students will apply a few weeks early and then enroll at the beginning of the school year OR at the beginning of the second semester in late January.  There is a $100, non-refundable, registration fee that must accompany the application.  Checks should be made out to Powers Catholic High School. Please know that once a student applies for admission, a copy of their academic transcript and behavior report will be requested from their current school.

3. EXPLORE Test (or Transfer Student Placement Test)

Along with your teachers' recommendations and academic transcripts, our counselors will use your EXPLORE Test results to help determine your course schedule for the coming fall.

Parochial School Students: Powers Catholic counselors will be coming to your school in November or December to administer the test to your whole class.  The scores will be sent directly to our guidance counselors.

Students from other area schools: Many public schools also use the EXPLORE Test during the 8th grade year.  If you take the test at your school, you just need to send us the results.  Not sure if you took the test?  Just ask your counselor or teacher.  If you have not taken the test already, we would love to have you come take it here on one of the dates below.  The test is free and takes about 2 hours.  Please bring a #2 pencil (not mechanical) and a calculator.

Parochial Schools: Powers Catholic counselors will visit the area parochial schools to help eighth grade students pick their classes during the month of January. Parents are encouraged to make appointments through their elementary school to participate in the registration process.  If the $100 registration fee was not paid when your application was submitted, it will be requested during this appointment. Note: All students from our partner schools are guaranteed a spot in the incoming freshmen class if you register for classes by the end of Febuary. Open enrollment begins in March and will continue until the class is full.

The student is expected to attend the registration appointment along with a parent, parents, or guardians.  If the $100 registration fee was not paid when your application was submitted, it will be requested during this appointment.
